The first residents began moving into the Lutheran Sunset Home in
March 1955 and the official
opening was held on June 11 of that year. The original home, located at 1212 Osler Street
in Saskatoon, offered retirement living in a Christian atmosphere for 58 "guests." Since
then, LutherCare Communities has built a "Continuum of Living," serving people of many
different ages and needs throughout Saskatchewan.

renamed the former Luther Theological Seminary building in Saskatoon as the Lavik Centre and converted it for 12 seniors' housing units.

opened Luther Seniors Centre on Alexandra Avenue in Saskatoon, providing a day program for adults with dementia.

worked with Sask Housing to develop a 30-unit Luther Family Housing for low-income families on Heritage Way, Saskatoon.

renovated the original nursing care wing to create secure Special Needs Unit for residents with dementia.

opened 120-suite Luther Heights on Alexandra Ave., Saskatoon.

purchased 52-suite Trinity Tower in Estevan.

in partnership with Saskatchewan Department of Community Resources and Employment, opened first of six group homes in Saskatoon, serving younger residents.

opened the personal care home at 1230 Temperance Street, Saskatoon.

launched Home Help in Saskatoon, providing personal care and support on a fee-for-service basis.

began operating 123-suite Broadway Terrace in Regina jointly with Regina Lutheran Care Society.
