Providing excellence in care, shelter and support since 1955

Group Homes

LutherCare Communities operates several group homes for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Residents of our group homes are provided with 24-hour support. Group Homes also offers a Supported Independent Living Program for individuals who do not require 24-hour support.

A Normal Life Transition

When young people reach adulthood they generally desire to leave the family home and seek greater independence. In the past, this normal life transition often was denied to adults with developmental disabilities. Their main options were usually to remain in the family home, or enter an institution. LutherCare’s group living homes provide adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to live in a community-based, family-style setting where our dedicated staff members help them to lead active, independent lives. A normal day for one of our residents may include school or work, recreational outings, household duties, and visits with friends or family. Our services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Residents pay no fees. The spaces are funded and licensed by Community Living Service Delivery of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services. Applications for residency may be made through Community Living Service Delivery. An admission and discharge committee reviews all applications. Available openings are filled not on first-come-first-served basis but instead consider the compatibility among residents within the home and LutherCare’s ability to meet an individual’s required needs.

Each caregiver completes a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, and undergoes ongoing training — but just as importantly, they bring warmth, respect, and genuine care to every visit.

We value transparency and collaboration. Our team keeps family members informed and involved, offering updates on progress, changes in care needs, or any concerns that may arise. This open communication helps families feel confident and connected, even when they can’t be there in person.
