Announcement of New COO

LutherCare Communities had commenced a national search for a Chief Operating Officer in January 2023. After a thorough process led by Leaders International, we had attracted several highly qualified candidates. LutherCare Communities is thrilled to announce the successful candidate is Kim McKechney. Kim is currently the Vice President of Community Engagement and Communications at the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Kim started his role with the SHA in November 2017 as part of recruitment to the first SHA Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Over the last five-plus years, Kim has been a strong voice at ELT, providing critical strategic input and helping establish SHA as a new organization. He has also acted as ELT co-sponsor on various system wide priorities, helping advance strategic initiatives that are improving care for those served. Through his own portfolio responsibilities, Kim has led the creation of many new programs and supports as part of the transition to a single provincial health authority. This includes enhanced community engagement mechanisms, new processes for working with health foundations, a new provincial interpretation services program, new French language supports for patients, an integrated web platform, and improved government relations practices. Kim also played a critical leadership role in SHA’s response to COVID-19, including as the lead SHA Communications Officer with the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre.

LutherCare Communities is excited that Kim is joining the team with his wide range of skills and experience. In addition to Kim’s position as the Chief Operating Officer, he will also participate as an Executive Team Member to support the broader organization.Congratulations and welcome to the team, Kim McKechney!
